Grain, better known as malt, is the heart and soul of beer. Barley, wheat and rye are just a few kinds of malted grain that brewers use to craft great beers. Malt gives beer its structure, texture, flavor and color. The starches and enzymes stored within malted grains allow us to create sugar for our yeast to turn into alcohol and thus create beer. There are many different techniques employed in the malting process throughout the world so we have a huge selection of different malts to choose from when formulating recipes. The smell of steeping grains is truly a thing of beauty.
